Our New Pipe Organ
The new pipe organ is Opus 672 of the Peragallo Organ Company of Paterson, New Jersey and is of three manual and pedal design including 8 ranks of pipework with a total of 415 speaking pipes augmented with 47 digitally sampled ranks of pipework for a total of 55 ranks and a complete MIDI package to address today’s contemporary musical worship and provide playback and record capability.
- The new instrument is enclosed in a hand crafted oak casework on the rear wall of the choir loft. From this advantageous position the organ shall speak on the central axis of the room directly into the nave of the church providing excellent tonal coverage.
- The new Gallery organ keydesk is a custom built low-profile, French terraced keydesk featuring dymndwood drawknobs and rocker tablets. The console is constructed of select hardwoods and finished to match the church furnishings. Complete solid state digital switching are featured and a multi-level combination system allows the organist to pre-set the combination system with various levels of stop settings. The key claviers are of the finest hardwoods with the naturals in maple and the sharps in padouk. Tracker key touch, a combination key lock and a locking roll top shall are also included.
- A MIDI connection in the sanctuary area allows the Clavinova to play the pipe organ from this remote location. A Yahama sequencer shall facilitate playback and record capability. A Roland JV1010 sound module shall add many percussive and digitally sampled effects including piano, harp and strings.
- The keydesk shall be placed upon a oak parquet movable platform to offer the flexibility to adapt to varying liturgical/musical usage.
- The new pipe organ is enclosed in a hand crafted oak casework. The casework shall fits nicely on the rear wall between the windows of the choir loft and accentuate the beautiful rear rose window.
- The facade pipework of the Great Principals is finished in gold with polished zinc mouths, extended pipe toes and rear roll tuners.
- The crowning jewel of the instrument is the stately – St. James Trompette. This set of flared gold trumpets is positioned horizontally in the center portion of the casework with the reed resonators projecting outward. This unique stop shall provide the instrument with a fiery band of reed color so useful in processional and fanfare music.The purchase of a new pipe organ represents a lifetime investment in quality music and worship by the St. James parish community. The new instrument shall be thoroughly capable of accommodating all the musical needs of the worshipping congregation and ideally suited for concert usage.
