Role of the Catechist

The role of the catechist is to echo the Word of God and to lead the children into a relationship with Jesus Christ.  Catechists for Sunday Gospel Gathering and 7th and 8th grade religious education classes lead a class of students in the lesson plans provided to them.  This year, as we seek to deepen relationships between formation leaders, parents, children and the community, the role of the catechists will be expanded to be one of a formation leader - communicating information to parents and families, leading house gatherings, and helping to facilitate retreats. 

Catechists must attend Virtus training and provide the required background check release forms.  More information on this training can be found at http://www.virtus.org.
