Religious Education Grade 7-8

Currently St. James is working on the Children’s Ministry in St. James. For more information contact the Parish Center at 375-5887.
St. James offers religious education classes for junior high students on Tuesday nights from 7:00 – 8:30 PM. We begin in the Chapel for the proclamation of the Word and a brief prayer service, and then small classes convene until 8:30.
The Objectives for the Formation Program are as follows:
- Develop the ability to be still, utilizing a variety of techniques;
- Listen attentively to God’s Word and reflect on how God is speaking to them directly;
- Seek ways to live the Demands of the Gospel in their lives;
- Participate in guided discussions on making choices based on our faith and not on the pressures of our society;
- Develop an age appropriate knowledge of the doctrines of our faith and Catholic Social Teaching;
- Participate in a variety of forms of prayer; and
- Participate in the action committee for Free the Children.
Parent Requirements
We draw closer to Christ through participation in the sacraments, prayer, and service. Parents who enroll their children agree to:
- Bring their children to church so that they may be given the opportunity to hear God’s Word and receive the gift of Eucharist;
- Develop a personal relationship with God through prayer and the use of home rituals and symbols; and
- Participate in family and community service projects.
Your desire to nurture your children in faith is witnessed by bringing your children to Faith Formation Class. Living the demands of the Gospel every day is difficult. We need the support of the community to help us. St. James is committed to helping you be the very best Catholic Parent you can be. We seek to connect you with other parents and provide you with the resources that will help you on your journey of faith. It is our desire to engage you with your community of faith so that you can begin to experience the love, joy, peace, and hope of God the Father. Your are strongly encouraged to participate in the Journey Home or the Journey of Discipleship as a part of your child’s faith formation.
