Finance Council

Goal:

To give advice and monitor the stewardship gifts of treasure that are given to our community of faith and to make St. James financially solvent in the present as well as in the future.

Objectives:

1. Continually monitor the Business Office in order to make it more pro-active in effectively assessing and improving the financial stability of the parish.

  • Review the jobs within the Business Office to insure that the office is operating in the most effective manner.
  • Meet every two month to review budget (income, expenditures, cash flow etc.) to insure that the expenditures are within budgetary guidelines approved by the Finance Council.
  • Report twice a year the status of the parish finances to the parish community.
  • Continuously review the parish Business Office policies and procedures to insure that they are aligned with the Diocesan Guidelines.
  • Yearly review employee benefit package.
  • Annually review and update Personnel Job Descriptions and Policies

2. Increase the Finance Stewardship Gifts to the Parish.

  • Have an annual Increase Revenue Drive during the months of September (Building an Awareness) and October (The Process of Asking)
  • Increase the use of envelopes.
  • Increase the use of automatic deductions.

3.Develop a greater commitment to Financial Stewardship by this Community of Faith.

  • Educate the community regarding the meaning of financial stewardship through various means.
  • Have witness talks regarding stewardship.
  • Promote and increase the levels of giving (fair exchange, generosity, and sacrificial giving).
  • Have an affirmation and thanksgiving ministry to express appreciation of the gifts given.

4.Increase commitment to the future of St. James.

  • Raise the parishioners’ awareness of opportunities to continue to support the community in future generations through wills and bequests.
  • Orient new parishioners regarding their financial responsibility to St. James
