Community Values

As people of God who embrace the living tradition of our Roman Catholic Church, we choose to emphasize the following:

Reverence: We recognize and experience the sacred presence of God’s love, forgiveness and healing in ourselves and others in ourselves and others.

Hospitality: We graciously welcome and embrace all Diversity; We respect and seek to incorporate the gifts and talents of all our members

Spirituality: We mutually support and guide the ongoing spiritual growth of all members through prayer, worship, study and stewardship

Community Vision

  • Care for the needs of others within and beyond our faith community with our time, talent, and treasure

  • Live the radical demands of the Gospel
  • Empower diverse members to be servant leaders within our faith community
  • Develop and manage an organizational system that helps us reach our goals

Glossary

Disciple: a follower of Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit

Discern: bring God’s call into focus through prayer and mindfulness

Stewardship: gifts of time, talent and treasure entrusted to us by God

Servant Leader: a leader who uses one’s power and gifts in humble service for the benefit of the faith community

Ongoing Conversion: continuously be open to experience and respond to God’s love, forgiveness and healing in our lives

Goals and Objectives

As people of God, our Baptism calls us to be disciples. We intentionally strive to become disciples by working towards the following goals:

1. To recognize and reverence God’s presence within ourselves and each other we will:

  • Have greater awareness of God’s presence within ourselves and others
  • View everyone as a gift from God
  • Actively welcome each other
  • Treat each other with respect and reverence
  • Look for and affirm the good in each other in word and action

2. To experience God’s care from and with each other we will:

  • Pray for the openness to receive God’s care from and with each other
  • Make our needs known to each other
  • Recognize and receive God’s care throughout the day

3. To commit to habits that deepen our relationship with God we will:

  • Be aware of and savor the beauty of the natural world around us
  • Pray daily
  • Regularly participate in Sunday Eucharist
  • Give our financial resources to those in need
  • Read and pray with Scripture regularly

4. To help each other grow in appreciation and understanding of our faith, together we will:

  • Learn about the living tradition of our faith
  • Learn about Scripture
  • Learn about various forms of prayer and worship
  • Learn about various forms of stewardship (time, talent, and treasure)
  • Talk about our faith with others

5. To share our gifts within and outside our faith community we will:

  • Collectively pray for members to respond to the Spirit’s call to service
  • Discern and discuss the gifts we’ve been given with each other
  • Explore ways to share our gifts of time, talent and treasure within and outside of the community
  • Commit to specific activities that share our gifts
  • Reflect on these activities with each other

6. To reveal God’s love, healing, and forgiveness in our daily actions we will:

  • Accept and be thankful for our ongoing conversion
  • Act in a loving, healing, and forgiving way each day
  • Share our spiritual journey with others within and outside our faith community
  • Reflect on and discern the radical demands of the Gospel

7. To live the radical demands of the Gospel individually and as a community we will:

  • Simplify our lifestyles
  • Study Catholic documents
  • Discern contemporary issues in the world
  • Commit our resources to specific actions regarding contemporary issues
  • Respond to contemporary issues
  • Review and renew our response to the radical demands of the Gospel

8. To empower diverse members to become servant leaders within our faith community we will:

  • Heed our call to servant leadership
  • Participate in training as a response to the call to servant leadership
  • Empower and guide those who answer the call
  • Regularly review and evaluate the effectiveness of our servant leaders
  • Continue to envision the future life of our faith community

9. To develop and manage an organizational system (organizational structure, communication, and resources) that helps us reach our goals we will:

  • Identify and implement the staffing and training needed to effectively run our organizational system
  • Identify and obtain the necessary resources to effectively implement the pastoral plan
  • Create and maintain a communication network that connects and gives voice to all members of our faith community
  • Regularly review and evaluate the effectiveness of our organizational system

Note: We have 9 goals. Objectives are the bullets listed underneath each goal. Objectives are like pieces of a puzzle. When you put them all together they make a picture (they make the goal).
