Music Ministry

The St. James Music Ministry is made up of singers and instrumentalists committed to:

  • Serving the community by inspiring full and joyful participation in worship through congregational singing and reflective listening
  • Reiterating God’s Word in song
  • Moving the congregation, through music, closer to God
  • Encouraging spiritual reflection, growth, prayerfulness, thankfulness, and a sense of connectedness/community through music.  Leading the congregation into a deeper experience of the mystery celebrated.

If you love to sing and are familiar with the basic repertoire of the Catholic Church, we hope you will consider sharing your talents with us!

Our adult choir sings for special occasions, such as Christmas or Holy Week.

Our bell choir provides music for special Masses, such as Christmas, Palm Sunday, and the Easter Season. Please watch for announcements in the bulletin about rehearsals.

Our children’s choir provides music once per month at the 9:15 AM Mass. Please watch for announcements in the bulletin regarding specific dates for these Masses, as well as for rehearsal dates.

During high seasons, we use professional instrumentalists. However, if you play an instrument, you are welcome to audition to play at liturgies during ordinary time, provided that you are able to read and sight-read music, and are able to transpose.
