Goals and Purpose: This ministry was started in 2005 and is based on its effectiveness and simplicity combined with the members willingness to share their gift and talent with others. These shawls are given from a place of compassion and caring.
To create a shawl is to give of one’s self; to receive one is to accept the love of another entwined with that of God. A handmade shawl embodies love, hope, and healing.
We meet on the first Thursday of each month and start with the lighting of the Christ candle followed by a gathering prayer. We share our stories, notes, patterns, and prayers all with a soft reflective tone of music as we knit and crochet. Prayerful awareness of God is incorporated into each stitch. When a shawl is completed, it is brought to the next monthly meeting and at the closing prayer with all hands on them they are blessed.
